As you may have guessed, with the coming of Spring comes the renewed concern for severe weather safety. Towards that end, Tornado Awareness Week has been set for April 08th – 12th, 2019 across the State of Wisconsin. As has been the past practice in Wood County, they will again be taking part in the week’s activities, including a Statewide test of the tornado warning system. This year the statewide drill will be held on Thursday, April 11th beginning at approximately 1:00 PM. The drill will begin with a simulated Tornado Watch issued by the National Weather Service at 1:00 PM, followed by a simulated Tornado Warning at 1:45 PM. In addition, a mock tornado warning will also be issued at 6:45 PM.
Warning Points will receive a simulated tornado warning message from the Warning Center which will begin and end with the word test. I would like to take this opportunity to suggest that each resident then conduct a test of your in-house warning procedures in the event of a tornado situation.
THIS IS A TEST – REPEAT A TEST ONLY. “SIMULATED TORNADO WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1:15 PM OFR ALL PERSONS IN WOOD COUNTY. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN COOPERATION WITH THE WISCONSIN DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND THE WOOD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICE IS USING THIS WARNING TEST TO ALERT ALL WARNING POINTS TO THE PROCEDURES USED DURING AN ACTUAL WARNING SITUATION. PLEASE FOLLOW YOUR STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES”. THIS IS A TEST – REPEAT A TEST ONLY.
